Jun 16, 2014

Hello Folks:
When I was in high school in Bloomington, there was a little band of seniors who were dissatisfied with the culinary offerings of our cafeteria. Imagine that! We made an attempt to convince our counselor that this was a situation the needed remedying with some sense of urgency but to no avail. Our solution was to initiate lunchtime potluck. At the onset the offerings and attendance was meager at best. But, we grew in numbers and creative cuisine every week until at our zenith, we filled 4 cafeteria tables with homemade goodies and a multitude of pride. It was during our high school potluck days that I first experienced a pomegranate.

Being a college town, we had a good diversity in cultures and those classmates were happy to share the food of their families:  tabouli, crepes, Shepherd pie, lasagna. We were fortunate to have had a little idea and the guts to manifest it. That is how I feel about Duos. It is very tricky to bring real, homemade, honest food to folks at a price that is accessible to everyone while still supporting our local producers. We are fortunate indeed. You support us and we support you. Enough rambling.
Also look for the truck this Thursday at the Statehouse Market!
