Menu for week of February 18

Hi Friends:

We are going to continue with our menu of last week with a few substitutions and daily specials.   A couple of weeks, add and subtract a bit, don't over stress the kitchen crew with too many changes. If you ever want to request a dish, or yearn for something that you might have enjoyed last year, please, don't hesitate to share that with us! Often, we forget about a dish and your recollection and requests are mighty handy.

Folks might notice us playing with our new sandwich station next week.  There will be a bit of experimenting as we create sandwiches that we hope please and challenge the palate as well as offer some grounded and familiar standards.  We will be roasting beef and turkey in house, revisiting our Roasted Eggplant Sandwich with tomato Chutney.

Menu for week of February 11

Hello True Believers:

With the ebbing of our grey days and the daylight prevailing just a tiny bit more each evening, we are happy to create the warm and comforting (hopefully stimulating, thought-provoking) foods that are commendable winter dishes. We are experimenting in the Kitchen with new dishes every day, and we are working on our plan to create a sandwich station separated from our entree area with more choices and some crazy fun combinations. Look for a few test items in the coming weeks as we prepare for the switch.

If you have not ventured out on a Saturday to our Indy Winter Farmers Market at the Original City Market, we highly encourage you to do so. It is a wonderful way to experience a Saturday, surrounded by good food, farmers, juicers, potters and your neighbors. It is a great outing to share with your entire family and it may be so rewarding that it becomes a tradition. Duos will be there selling our highly regarded Leblebi (Tunisian Breakfast Stew). 

Still getting some nice local product: Spicy Salad Greens, Arugula, Radishes and of course our Hamburger and eggs are always from Fischer Farms and our bacon is from Smoking Goose.

The Duos Gang

February is the perfect month to experience our Balance Bowl if you have not done so in the recent past.  It is a soul satisfying bit of comfort, tastiness and wellness all in one little bowl.  Organic Brown Rice and Organic Black Beans, we have grated Fischer Farm Egg(or not if you prefer vegan style), fresh spinach, scallion, red bell pepper and cilantro.  A little bit of Chipotle Aioli....oh yeah, that will do.  You might add chicken or tofu, if so desired.

Duos Mobile is enjoying its little break.  Although, we must say, we really miss being out on the street.  One of the critical reasons (besides just needing to cook!) we embarked upon our Mobile journey is that we love the notion of creating gathering places and moments in our city.  Hoping to foster a sense of community and perhaps, by choosing some different and unusual spots, exposing folks to new areas of our city and new ways of considering food.  So, come warmer and sunnier weather, we will be glad to resume that goal.  Meanwhile, it is such a pleasure to see our Mobile guests at the Kitchen.  You can't possibly know how much it means to us every single day that we get to cook up something and you get to enjoy that bite.

So, this next week, with the Addition of our Rustic chicken Pie and Daily Specials (I have been loving making the Devils' Pizza!), we will hold steady with the same menu with surprises every day.

So, Winter has arrived. In our happy response to the frigid air, and in our Duos tradition, we will be taking a Mobile break for the rest of Jan and the month of February. FRET NOT! 1) We do have a few obligations on the street which we will keep you informed about 2) It is very temporary. We did this last year and are in the great fortunate position to have our lovely DUOS KITCHEN as an outlet to continue to gratefully serve you. 

As a little incentive to come visit us at 2960 N. Meridian, if you come on in and dine with us & mention to our wonderful cashier that you read this, we will share a little tasty cookie, made with copious amounts of love, as a way of saying thanks a million for your continued patronage. Weekly menu

After being immersed in the food culture of Indianapolis for over 30 years, it is so rewarding to experience and witness the support of our great culinary traditions and innovations. Back in the day(and until very recently), anyone with a divergent attitude about food who attempted to bring it into the public realm, really struggled a great deal. Independent restaurants and establishments were working twice as hard as chains for 1/2 the business.

Faith in the denizens of our beautiful city has been well placed. Talented Chefs and Artisans are finding a welcoming that is unprecedented in any time since at least the 70's. The City Market is once again buzzing and thriving. Good, real food is on many a plate at home and restaurants. Small, local and urban farms and Farmers are abundant and fruitful. It is a happy convergence of all that is possible and good in Indianapolis. It makes us proud and excited to be a participant in such a blossoming era.

We are still getting a few lovely and fresh local goodies: cabbage, eggs, kale, radishes. Of course our bacon is locally cured and our Ground Beef is from Fischer Farms. It is always a challenge to offer the quality that we desire with keeping a price point that is accessible for all folks, but we figure it out each week. It is one of the things that makes our work interesting and fulfilling.
