Menu for week of June 24th

Wow what a season of rain can do for our produce and markets. Today, at the Original Farmers' Market, the vendors were bursting forth with berries, cauliflower, greens, tomatoes, squash, herbs, peaches...surprisingly bountiful for June. I highly recommend a field trip out and about our city at any number of farmers markets that occur almost every day of the week.

Heads up: Duos (Kitchen and Mobile) will be closed for the 4th and 5th of July but will be out at the Harrison Center for the Arts, Friday night the 5th for Food Con from 6-10 pm celebrating the art and culture of food in our fair State!

Hello Friends, Family and Countrymen/women:

How wonderful it is to experience a Spring with plenty of rain compared to the intense drought of last year.  Our dear Farmers are digging up some wonderful bounty and we try to make good use of the season. 

We want to remind all of you that Duos serves breakfast at our Brick and Mortar building(2960 N. Meridian) Mon-Fri from 7am -10.  We have a lovely patio perfect for sipping your coffee and enjoying a super delish, perfect biscuit with farm eggs and reading the morning paper(I still do that!).  Please join us soon.

The Duos Gang

Dearest Friends:

We are going to attempt something new, and we certainly hope, a rewarding change.  At Duos Kitchen, we will go to a seasonal menu with regular specials. The Duos Mobile menu will change every week, as it always has. The mobile menu (with the exception of the salad special) will be offered at The Kitchen as well as other weekly specials to liven things up and keep the cuisine interesting.

Farmers are finally reaping crops. Even though we have always, even through the bleak winter, had local eggs, radish, arugula and lettuce, and pure maple syrup. We have local rhubarb now and next week strawberries will be in. Squash, kale, all salad greens are happening and this week, we were able to access our first Indiana tomatoes! Our hope is that we are able to continually work with our farmers and suppliers to bring local, sustainable produce and goods to all of you at a price that is fair and balanced for all. This is a tricky deal to pull off. Small farmers need to be paid a fair price for their work. Just as important, good, fresh food should be enjoyed by all. It is part of our life work.

Hello Folks:

We want to remind you guys that Duos Kitchen serves breakfast (and a tasty breakfast it is!) Mon-Fri from 7am-10am.  It just might be one of those tidbits that you would be unaware of.  Anthony Perry is your trusty and knowledgeable chef, and we have a sweet and tasty menu.  Personally, I think our biscuits are the best around! Menu for week of May 13

Good Day Good Folks:

My parents moved to Indiana in 1954.  They were from New York and had no experience living in the country. They bought a 100 acre farm: Eddie Albert, Green Acres-style (for those of you who recall the stunning television series). They learned from the knowledgeable neighbors how to farm. They planted asparagus beds, a 1/2 acre garden, canned and foraged. Mom relished the "Art of French Cooking" and Rombauers' "Joy of Cooking". Dad hosted his graduate students for Pig Roasts (pigs bought from Aquilla Baxter, our neighbor) under the looming Beech tree and dabbled in Chinese cuisine. He took particular pride in his unnaturally tall salads and diverse antipastos. My love for international cuisine and fresh, local food comes very naturally. I try to hold those early associations with food close to my heart and convey that in each weekly menu.
